About
Plastic is in the water, the soil, the air and us. We think people deserve the evidence straight, the companies responsible named, and a practical way to live with less of it.
What we do
Less Plastic Please reports on plastic pollution and microplastics for journalists, activists, policymakers and anyone trying to get plastic out of their kitchen. We do three things:
- Report the evidence. What researchers have actually found, including where the science is still uncertain.
- Name names. The companies that produce the most plastic and the industry campaigns that blamed you for it.
- Vet the alternatives. Glass, steel, wood, ceramic and natural fiber products checked against a public standard.
Who we are
Less Plastic Please is written and edited by Timothy McDermott.
No brand, industry group or retailer pays for coverage or for a product listing. Some links earn us a commission, which our disclosure explains.
How we source
- Every factual claim links to its source, and every article ends with a full source list.
- We cite the study itself, not news coverage of it, and take figures from the paper's own abstract or results.
- We say when a finding is an association rather than proof of cause, and when it comes from animal or cell studies rather than people.
- When a widely repeated figure has been disputed, we say so, or we leave it out.
- When we change an article, we update its "Updated" date. When we correct a factual error, we say what changed.
